MASS PROPER: MEMORIAL OF BLESSED FRANCIS XAVIER SEELOS (OCTOBER 5)

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON: Genesis 12:1-2

Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father's house to a land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great so that you will be a blessing.

OPENING PRAYER (COLLECT):

O God, who made your priest, Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos,
outstanding in love,
that he might proclaim the mysteries of redemption,
and comfort those in affliction,
grant, by his intercession,
that we may work zealously for your glory
and for the salvation of all.
We ask through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son
Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
One God forever and ever. Amen

READING: I Corinthians, 12:27-3

You then are the body of Christ, every one of you is a member of it.
Furthermore, God has set up in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, healers, assistants, administrators, and those who speak in tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles or have the gift of healing? Do all speak in tongues, do all have the gift of interpretation of tongues? Set your hearts on the greater things.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Psalm 89, 1-5

I have made a covenant with my holy one
          The favors of the Lord I will sing forever;
through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness.
I have made a covenant with my holy one
For you have said, "My kindness is established forever,"
in heaven you have confirmed our faithfulness.
I have made a covenant with my holy one
"I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant."

ALLELUIA VERSE: I Thes. 5:16-18

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Rejoice always, never cease praying, render constant thanks.
Such is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

HOLY GOSPEL: Matthew 9:35-38 -10:1

Jesus continued his tour of all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues, he proclaimed the good news of God's reign, and he cured every sickness and disease. At the sight of the crowds his heart was moved with pity. They were lying prostrate with exhaustion, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples: "The harvest is indeed good but laborers are scarce. Beg the harvest master to send out laborers to gather his harvest." Then he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority to expel unclean spirits and to cure sickness and disease of every kind.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS:

Lord, receive the gifts we bring on this feast of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos. As his zeal for the salvation of men and women brought him to the New World, so may our lives bring to our brothers and sisters joyful witness to the faith we profess. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

COMMUNION ANTIPHON: I Corinthians, 10:16

Is not the cup of blessing we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread we break a sharing in the body of the Lord?

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION:

Father, as you have renewed us by the power of this sacrament, so may we inspired by the preaching and teaching of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, follow your way with joy and prepare ourselves for the feast of eternal life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
